A Touching Program in Başiskele

The ‘Youth Concert with Heroic Ballads’ organized within the scope of the Commemoration of Atatürk, Youth and Sports Day on May 19 in Başiskele received great interest. Coordinated by Başiskele Municipality Youth and Sports Services Directorate, the program held at Turkey Century Youth Center was attended by Kocaeli Deputy Governor and Acting District Governor of Başiskele Ali Ada, Mayor of Başiskele Yasin Özlü, district protocol, and many citizens. The Music Schools teachers Bukte Saatcı, Furkan Kayaoğlu, Fırat Nadir Bilgin, who are important parts of Başiskele Municipality’s ‘Genc-i Âlâ Youth Model’ and have been training future musicians for years, along with their students, presented a music feast to the audience. Accompanied by the poems of the Director of Youth and Sports Services, Samet Yaylı, heroic ballads from all regions of Turkey were performed in the music festival that narrated the glorious Turkish history extending from Malazgirt to Çanakkale, from the Tuna River to Kerkük, from Karabağ to Aleppo and Palestine. In the program, a theatrical representation of the moment when Ömer Halisdemir showed a great act of heroism in the July 15 Democracy Epic was staged. Emotional moments were experienced during the show, where the names of martyrs from the past to the present were also remembered. Speaking at the program, Mayor Yasin Özlü said, ‘I would like to express my heartfelt thanks to our Youth and Sports Services Directorate, Başiskele Municipality Neşet Ertaş Music Schools teachers, students, theater team, and all our fellow citizens who have always supported us in the beautiful projects we have accomplished, for giving us an unforgettable night with this beautiful program we organized on the occasion of the Commemoration of Atatürk, Youth and Sports Day. I commemorate with gratitude, mercy, and respect Mustafa Kemal Atatürk and his comrades-in-arms, all the martyrs and veterans who sacrificed their lives without hesitation for our country and flag, and sincerely congratulate our May 19 Commemoration of Atatürk, Youth and Sports Day.’
