On the occasion of the Commemoration of Atatürk, Youth and Sports Day on May 19th, Terme Municipality distributed thousands of flags to tradesmen and citizens. Mayor of Terme, Şenol Kul, stated, “We are sharing the joy of the holiday by distributing our glorious flag to our citizens and tradesmen.” Streets in Terme were adorned with Turkish flags before May 19th. Mayor Şenol Kul distributed thousands of Turkish flags to tradesmen and citizens in Terme with the aim of celebrating May 19th Commemoration of Atatürk, Youth and Sports Day with enthusiasm. Mayor Kul, who also participated in the flag distribution, said, “We want to celebrate our holiday with great enthusiasm by decorating Terme with the crescent-starred Turkish flags.” Mayor of Terme, Şenol Kul, emphasized the importance of the Turkish flag by stating, “The Turkish flag is one of our most sacred possessions. We used to hang flags as citizens during holidays, but I observed that we started to lose this tradition. Therefore, we are distributing flags as a small reminder to our tradesmen as Terme Municipality. We aim to celebrate our holidays with great enthusiasm by decorating our district with crescent-starred Turkish flags before our holidays. We will experience the joy of our holidays in unity and solidarity by cherishing our flag, nation, and homeland.” In his statement about the significance of the holiday, Mayor Kul said, “May 19th is a symbol of the Turkish nation’s struggle for independence and freedom. Youth is one of the most important elements of this struggle. We should work to illuminate our future by celebrating this holiday with enthusiasm. Our national holidays and the Turkish flag are the symbols of our determination and unity in this struggle. Today, we proudly carry this flag and look to the future with hope.”
