Eskişehir Technical University (ESTU) UAV Club organized the event ‘Future in the Sky: Lights of Tomorrow’. The event organized by the UAV Club is the first summit event in Turkey in the field of UAV technologies. The event aimed to create awareness in UAV technologies, encourage knowledge sharing, and bring together stakeholders in the sector. The event, which attracted the interest of 4 different UAV teams from Eskişehir and nearly 200 participants, showcased the latest developments in UAV technologies and provided a networking opportunity between students and professional guests. Different UAV models and technologies were introduced at the exhibition held during the event. Eskişehir Technical University students took a big step in the field of aviation and technology by establishing Turkey’s first Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV) Club. Despite being a young organization of only 7 months, it was learned that the club has made a name for itself throughout Turkey with the work it has carried out in a short time. The event ‘Future in the Sky: Lights of Tomorrow’ held in recent days was realized as the first major event in the club’s history. While it is known that ESTU UAV Club set out with the vision of being an innovation center within the university, its main goal is to provide students with the opportunity to develop themselves in the field of aviation and UAV technologies. In addition, it was learned that the club aims to be closely involved with the industry and contribute to university-industry cooperation. Considering the rapidly increasing use of UAVs in military, civilian, and scientific fields, the club aims to pioneer developments in this field and increase Turkey’s competence in the aviation sector. ‘UAVs are used in many areas such as agriculture, energy, logistics, security.’ The size of the UAV sector in Turkey has exceeded 1 billion dollars in 2023, and stakeholders in this business expect it to reach 5 billion dollars by 2028. UAVs are used in many areas such as agriculture, energy, logistics, security, and it is expected that the scope of these usage areas will expand. It is expected that formations like ESTU UAV Club will increase Turkey’s competence in UAV technologies and make significant contributions to the country’s economy. The club supports students in enriching their knowledge and experiences through events, seminars, conferences, and other academic activities. At the same time, it aims to create a wide network of interaction in the aviation field by collaborating with clubs of other universities. The board of directors of ESTU UAV Club stated that it will continue to carry out pioneering work in the field of UAV technologies in the future and will continue to contribute to the development of Turkey in this field. The club aims to shape the future of the aviation sector with the events, projects, and trainings it will organize.
