President Gunel welcomed the delegation from Creil

A delegation from Creil, the sister city of Kuşadası in France, visited Mayor Ömer Günel at his office. During the visit, the potential relations between the two cities and the joint projects that could be developed were discussed.

Kuşadası Municipality officially became sister cities with the city of Creil in France last year following a decision taken by the Municipal Council. In this context, a delegation from Creil visited Kuşadası to enhance the sister city relations and to participate in the celebrations of the 19th of May Commemoration of Atatürk, Youth and Sports Day. The delegation, consisting of International Relations Project Manager Zohra Bibi, Deputy General Director Responsible for Culture, Youth and Citizenship Rama Diarra, Responsible for Innovative and Fair Trade Aissata Sow, Responsible for Citizenship, Participatory Democracy and Neighborhood Councils Ahmet Bulut, and Responsible for International Cooperation Anne Gaelle Perez, paid a courtesy visit to Mayor Ömer Günel.

During the visit at the Mayor’s office, joint projects to further strengthen the sister city relations between the two cities were discussed. Mayor Ömer Günel provided detailed information to the delegation about the Handcrafts Festival initiated by Kuşadası Municipality to contribute to the household economy of women living in the city, the milk and nutrition support initiated for children in need, the Local Equality Action Plan, the Parent-Child Center, the Kuşadası Station Community Center, and the ongoing construction of the Women’s Consultation and Solidarity Center. Mayor Ömer Günel later had a conversation with Creil Mayor Jean Claude Villeman, who called him via video call on his mobile phone. The visit ended after the exchange of gifts.

Expressing their happiness for hosting the delegation from Creil in Kuşadası, Mayor Ömer Günel stated, “As Kuşadası Municipality, we attach great importance to sister city relations. In this regard, we will have many joint projects with Creil. Our demographic structures are also very similar with Creil because in both places, many people from different parts of the world reside,” he said.
