Intense interest in health services on the street

Aydın Provincial Health Directorate has taken health services to the streets in Kuşadası, a touristic district in the Aegean Region. In this context, stations were set up on the seaside where city residents had their blood pressure, blood sugar, weight, and height measured. Various diseases were explained by the staff.

Aydın Provincial Health Directorate established stations at İsmail Cem Peace and Friendship Square in Kuşadası to promote a healthy lifestyle. At the stations where doctors and nurses served, city residents had free measurements of blood pressure, blood sugar, height, weight, and body fat. Citizens visiting the stations were individually consulted and informed through brochures about topics such as healthy eating, cancer, technology addiction, pregnancy, and child monitoring. At the first aid station, Kuşadası residents were shown practical applications of the Heimlich maneuver and how to intervene in choking incidents on a CPR mannequin. The National Medical Rescue Teams (UMKE) introduced their disaster interventions in the field tent they set up. The event, which attracted great interest, was well received.

Hüseyin Dursun, who had his blood pressure and blood sugar measured at the stations, said, ‘I think it’s a very beneficial practice. It should be done more frequently. For example, due to my age, I learned that I may be in the risk group for colon cancer. I will go for necessary check-ups during the week.’

Fatma Gül, who moved from Istanbul to Kuşadası last year, expressed, ‘Unfortunately, we do not come across such events in big cities. Our people always avoid doctors. Today, I acquired very useful information about health. I thank the authorities of Aydın Provincial Health Directorate.’

District Health Director Başak Durmuş Öztürk said, ‘Health is the most important asset of every individual. It is very important to act together for a healthy society. As the Health Directorate, today we organized a one-day event in our district to promote a healthy lifestyle. Our event included many activities from health check-ups to informative presentations. The interest shown by the people of Kuşadası also pleased us.’
