A photo exhibition describing the Çorum Museum, which has a 110-year history, originally built as a hospital in 1914 and later served as a school, hosting 8 civilizations under the theme ‘Topkapı Palace of Anatolia,’ was opened as part of the Museum Week activities. The Çorum Museum, which is among the few architectural masterpieces in Turkey, went through a transformation from a building witnessing the seeking of cure for diseases to the dreams of students, turning into ashes in a fire in 1984 and being converted into a museum in 2003. Governor Assoc. Dr. Zülkif Dağlı, Provincial Gendarmerie Commander Lt. Col. Naim Çetinkaya, Deputy Director of Provincial Culture and Tourism Osman Keser, and students attended the opening of the photo exhibition that tells the story of the historical building reborn from its ashes. During the event, Governor Zülkif Dağlı emphasized the significance of Çorum’s 7,000-year history for the city, mentioning the civilizations like the Hittites and later the Turks who brought their civilization to these lands from Horasan through figures like Hacı Bektaşı Veli, Ahi Evran, and Somuncu Baba. The Governor highlighted the importance of the historical and cultural values of Çorum and underlined the need to promote these values. Museum Director Metin Çakar stated that the Çorum Museum, built in 1914, has hosted various institutions over the years and after a serious fire incident in 1988, it was restored and started serving as a museum in 2003. He invited all visitors to explore their exhibition on Museum Day, which showcases the journey of the museum from the first photograph taken in 1914 until today. During the program, Museum researcher Çiğdem Acar gave a presentation on ‘Educational Activities in the Museum,’ and Governor Dağlı presented a thank-you plaque to metal artist Hasan Tuluk, who published the book ‘Taş Mektep.’ Osman Taşçı also presented a music performance titled ‘Hitit Guitar’ during the program.
