Mother’s Day Message from the Minister of Family and Social Services

The Minister of Family and Social Services, Mahinur Özdemir Göktaş, celebrated Mother’s Day by sharing a photo of her two sons on her social media account. Göktaş shared both a video message and a photo taken with her sons on Mother’s Day through her social media account. Minister Göktaş, who shared a photo with her sons Hamza and Yusuf, described motherhood as an endless journey and a unique experience that lasts a lifetime.

Referring to her own mother, who has always been by her side with love and affection both in her childhood and today, Göktaş stated, “I wholeheartedly believe that the greatest legacy we will leave for the future is confident, knowledgeable, healthy, and well-raised generations. Our children will fall, get up, make mistakes, learn, and we will always be by their side. In my opinion, our greatest duty as parents is to guide them towards the right path with never-ending excitement,” she said.

The Importance of Being a Mother

Göktaş, emphasizing that the way to establish a peaceful, harmonious, and happy world is to raise the children, the hope of the future, with love, stated, “We can achieve this by first ensuring peace and tranquility in our own homes and families. Every new day that I wake up with my children, I learned new things, rediscovered life, realized that each person is a different world, and set new goals for myself. Today, as the Minister of Family and Social Services, one of my greatest responsibilities is to ensure that the thousands of children under our care reach happy tomorrows where they can turn their dreams into reality.”

In the video message shared from the ministry’s social media account, Göktaş described mothers as the backbone of the home, the harmony of life, a warm and safe embrace. Stating that the noblest position in every woman’s heart is motherhood, Göktaş said, “It is the heart that makes a woman a mother. Women who yearn to say ‘mother’ with overflowing love from their hearts embrace their children, become protective mothers, and distribute compassion to the earth. Every motherhood is a rebirth. Our world is enlightened with each new birth. I wholeheartedly wish a happy Mother’s Day to martyr mothers who teach us the beauty of patience, disabled mothers who show the limitlessness of sacrifice, women affected by war including Palestinian mothers, and all mothers. I salute our mothers, the light of the earth, not just for today, but with a lifelong respect.”
