An artisan at the Erzurum Vegetable and Fruit Market discovered a chameleon in the parsley crate of a truck loaded with vegetables and fruits sent from the regions of Mersin and Antalya. This unusual finding was immediately reported to the teams of the General Directorate of Nature Conservation and National Parks of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry in the region.
The Mediterranean chameleon, which was brought to a special veterinary clinic, was provided with a special living environment and received care under intensive care conditions.
Since it was understood that the chameleon could not survive in the climate conditions of Erzurum, it was sent back to Antalya in a special box.
- Upon arrival in Antalya, the chameleon was thoroughly examined by the teams of the General Directorate of Nature Conservation and National Parks of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry.
- As a result of the examinations, no health problems were detected in the chameleon, and it was released into its natural habitat to regain its freedom.
