‘Protect Our Seas’ Event

In Konacık Neighborhood of Arsuz district in Hatay, the event ‘Protect Our Seas’ organized by Arsuz Water Sports and Sailing Club took place. Within the scope of the event, both coastal and underwater cleaning were carried out at Konacık harbor. Divers retrieved numerous items such as chairs, tires, and ladders instead of fish from the sea. The aim of this cleaning activity was to preserve and keep the seas clean.

• Club President Altan Uzar: “Seas provide more than 80% of the world’s oxygen. We know that waste in the seas harms nature and living beings. Therefore, by organizing the ‘Protect Our Seas’ event, we aimed to raise awareness. We plan to make cleaning activities traditional to protect our seas.”
• Diver and Board Member Akın Rıdvanoğulları: “The pollution of the seas has a negative impact on marine life. It is saddening to find items like pots, pans, and teapots among the waste retrieved during the event. With this initiative of cleaning our seas, we hope to raise awareness and take a step towards cleaner seas.”
