Psychologists’ Day Event

Organized on May 10th, Psychologists’ Day, in collaboration with the Near East University Faculty of Arts and Sciences Psychology Department and Student Dean’s Office, the event titled “From Past to Present Psychology” was addressed from various perspectives. The event held in the Great Library Hall in both Turkish and English attracted a large audience.

The opening speech of the event, moderated by Dr. Fahriye Balkır, a faculty member of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences Psychology Department, was delivered by the Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences, Prof. Dr. Ali Efdal Özkul.

Aiming to provide students with a broad perspective, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Meryem Karaaziz, the Head of the Turkish Psychology Department, stated, “Psychologists provide support for people’s mental health, emotional well-being, and relationships. With this event, we aimed to provide students with a broad perspective that will strengthen this understanding.”

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ezgi Ulu, the Head of the English Psychology Department of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences, emphasized that psychologists play an important role not only for adults but also in the healthy psychological development of children, stating, “We can help children with different therapy methods. Cognitive behavioral therapy, play therapy, art therapy are just some of them.”

Prof. Dr. Ali Efdal Özkul, at the opening of the event, said, “Emphasizing the critical role psychologists play in public health, discussing the issues they need to pay attention to while practicing their professions, and understanding the importance of psychology education, this event is truly a valuable opportunity.” He also emphasized the importance of psychologists adhering to professional ethical rules.
