Mother’s Day Shopping Trends in Turkey

The President of the Confederation of Turkish Craftsmen and Artisans (TESK), Bendevi Palandöken, stated that the expenses made by citizens on Mother’s Day have shown a significant increase in recent years. While the expenses in 2021 reached up to an average of one thousand Turkish liras, this figure globally stands at around 200 dollars.

Increase in Mother’s Day Expenses

Palandöken expressed that there has been an increase of up to 500% in Mother’s Day expenses in the last 3 years. He particularly emphasized that the expenses made on this special day in Turkey have significantly increased.

Contribution to Craftsmen and Country’s Economy

Highlighting that the most shopping among special days is done on Mother’s Day, Palandöken stated that this situation contributes to both the happiness of mothers and brings significant income to craftsmen and the country’s economy. He announced that only Mother’s Day shopping last year provided a turnover of 25 billion Turkish liras to the craftsmen community.

Increase in Card Payments

Palandöken pointed out that in recent years, there has been a significant increase in shopping with cards on special days. Especially on special days like Mother’s Day, he mentioned that card payments have increased by around 35%. He also noted that this trend is valid for shopping done through websites as well.
