Limak Foundation’s long-term project Turkey’s Engineer Girls has now evolved into a global social impact movement. This year, sisters from around the world joined Turkey’s Engineer Girls, who have previously gathered six times in Istanbul. In partnership with Limak Foundation and the Ministry of Family, Labor, and Social Services, the traditional meeting of the ‘Turkey’s Engineer Girls’ Project, which has been ongoing since 2015, was held in Istanbul. Under the project, which has turned into an international social impact movement transcending national borders and continues under the name Global Engineer Girls (GEG) with the support of Limak, engineering students from different countries met their sisters in Istanbul.

MESSAGE OF SUPPORT FROM THE MINISTER TO THE GIRLS

Addressing young engineering students, Minister of Family, Labor, and Social Services Mahinur Özdemir Göktaş said, “I wholeheartedly believe that every project serving the hopeful tomorrows of girls is the greatest investment in our nation’s future. I am proud to be a stakeholder in such important initiatives that offer bright futures to them. Turkey’s Engineer Girls Project is a very special initiative that we handle with great sensitivity in this field. We offer significant opportunities for our young girls to discover their talents and build a bright future through the project,” she said.

STATEMENT FROM THE CHAIRMAN OF LIMAK GROUP OF COMPANIES

Ebru Özdemir, Chairman of the Board of Limak Group of Companies, said, “The Turkey’s Engineer Girls project started 9 years ago, and last year we decided to continue running Turkey’s Engineer Girls as global engineer girls in a more widespread manner. This year, we are implementing the project that we started in 2015 together with our new student friends from North Macedonia, Kosovo, and Saudi Arabia. Every year, we organize a meeting in Istanbul within the scope of this project. This year, from 10-12 May, we invite all our female students to Istanbul who are participating in this project. Our mentors are coming, our collaborating friends are coming. This year, our Minister of Family was with us, our Ambassador of Saudi Arabia came. We are actually celebrating engineering with many friends from various other organizations,” she said.
