Six-year-old Muhammet Emir Çiçek, who ate watery potatoes cooked on the stove while his mother was outside in Kars, was sent to Elazığ when he became unable to breathe. After being treated by Dr. Güneri Atalan and his team at a private hospital, Muhammet, who stayed in a coma for 6 days, was discharged upon regaining his health.

In the incident in Kars, six-year-old Muhammet Emir Çiçek ate watery potatoes cooked on the stove while his mother was outside. Muhammet, who then felt unwell, was first taken to Digor District Hospital and then to Kars State Hospital. When Muhammet became unable to breathe, ventilation was provided by making a hole through the tracheostomy above his windpipe, and he was transferred to Elazığ. Here, he was treated by Dr. Güneri Atalan and his team at a private hospital and recovered.

Statements of the Specialist Doctor and Important Warning

Dr. Güneri Atalan, who provided information about the case, said, “Muhammet suffered serious damage due to hot food. His general condition was poor when he was brought to the hospital. During the period he stayed in a coma, he also had epileptic seizures. However, he regained his health after the treatment process and was discharged. I would like to emphasize the importance of avoiding extreme hot or cold feeding in children.”

Mother Ayşe Çiçek described the incident as follows: “He felt unwell after eating watery potatoes cooked on the stove. When his condition rapidly deteriorated, we took him to the hospital. After a long treatment process, he has now recovered. We are grateful to the doctors and nurses.”
