The Vocational Qualifications Authority (MYK) and the Association for the Preservation and Development of Anatolian Handicrafts (ANELSANDER) have signed a cooperation protocol to preserve traditional handicrafts and determine their standards. Within the protocol, standards will be prepared for 21 professions.

Attendance to the Signing Ceremony

The signing ceremony of the protocol was attended by the MYK Board of Directors and President Prof. Dr. Mustafa Necmi İlhan, Director of Living Heritage and Cultural Activities Selim Terzi, ANELSANDER President Uğur Bent Türker, and other institution and association executives. Best wishes were expressed for the success of the protocol for all stakeholders.

MYK Board of Directors and President Prof. İlhan: “We have been planning to work on identifying ancestral professions and transferring them to future generations for a long time. We are in cooperation with ANELSANDER to bring to light the traditional arts and crafts living in Anatolia.”

Director of Living Heritage and Cultural Activities Terzi: “The discovery and transmission of traditional cultural heritage are valuable. There are 6,335 cultural heritage bearers in Turkey; this signature will increase their visibility.”

President of ANELSANDER Türker: “We have taken an important step to standardize the handcrafted arts of our artisans who keep our cultural values alive. This work aims for the sustainability of traditional arts and crafts and the training of qualified professionals in the field.”
