Unemployment Data

The number of unemployed decreased by 19 thousand people in March compared to the previous month, reaching 3 million 57 thousand people. The unemployment rate also decreased by 0.1 points to 8.6%. The unemployment rate was 6.8% for men and 12.0% for women.

Employment Status

In March, the number of employed people increased by 139 thousand to reach 32 million 588 thousand. The seasonally adjusted employment rate was 49.5%. This rate was 66.9% for men and 32.5% for women.

Youth Population and Unemployment

The unemployment rate in the youth population aged 15-24 decreased by 0.4 points from the previous month to 15.1%. In this age group, the unemployment rate was estimated at 11.7% for men and 21.2% for women.

Other Statistics:

  • The seasonally and calendar-adjusted average actual weekly working hours were recorded as 43.8 hours.
  • The labor force participation rate was 54.2%. This rate was 71.8% for men and 36.9% for women.
  • The underemployment rate and the integrated rate of unemployed and underemployed individuals were 16.1% and 17.3%, respectively.
