Prof. Dr. Mehmet Kocabatmaz, who was a former DSP Member of Parliament for Denizli in the 21st Term and a retired academic, passed away due to a long-term illness he had been receiving treatment for. Kocabatmaz was 78 years old. He had served as a State Minister in the 57th Government under the leadership of Bülent Ecevit.
The funeral ceremony took place at the Mosque and Complex of Mufti Ahmet Hulusi Efendi following the afternoon prayer. Kocabatmaz was laid to rest in the Asri Cemetery. It was noteworthy that his grandson Mehmet Ege Kocabatmaz carried a photo of him during the transportation of the coffin.
Among the attendees of the funeral ceremony were Deputy Governor Baha Başçelik, Mayor of Denizli Metropolitan Municipality Bülent Nuri Çavuşoğlu, Mayor of Pamukkale Ali Rıza Ertemur, Senior Colonel Hıdır Ayçiçek, Chief of Police in Denizli Yavuz Sağdıç, AK Party Provincial Chairman Yücel Güngör, and his family.
