The Effect of Turkish Music on the Milk Yield of Cows

An project carried out in collaboration with the State Conservatory at the Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University Faculty of Veterinary Medicine Farm revealed that playing Turkish music to cows increased milk yield.

Project Details and Results

The project manager, Prof. Dr. Zeki Nacakcı, stated that playing music to the cows increased their calmness, reduced their stress, and consequently increased milk yield. According to the results of the project, cows reacted differently to different genres of music, while Turkish folk music and local music were observed to have a positive effect on milk yield.

• The project team consisted of 15 people from different faculties.

Prof. Dr. Nacakcı, who provided information about the project, said, ‘We initiated the project with the aim of increasing milk yield by researching the effect of music on cows. We observed that cows responded positively to music. With the successful results of our project, we will share scientific data through articles and presentations.’
