Support March for Palestine

Within the scope of the event ‘Walking for Humanity’ organized by OMÜ Student Communities, students and teachers gathered at the OMÜ Campus Mosque after Friday prayers and walked to the OMÜ Life Center where the tents of the Palestinian resistance are located, accompanied by takbirs.

Rector Ünal’s Speech

Emphasizing the need not to remain silent in the face of the oppression in Palestine, Rector Yavuz Ünal stated, ‘What is happening in Gaza is not only a test for the people of Gaza, but for all of us. We have been powerless. However, the truth that the voice we raise from here will strengthen them, that there is still hope for Muslims in the future of the world, is a fact, a voice, a stance.’ Rector Ünal also likened Hamas’ struggle to the War of Independence and emphasized the need for the resistance in Palestine to continue.

Ünal pointed out that the reactions should not only be directed at Israel but also at other countries supporting it, stating, ‘Everything that feeds the power, strengthens the reputation of Zionist Israel needs to be restricted, needs to be confronted.’

The event concluded after the participants chanted slogans.
