Istanbul Breaks Record in Number of Foreign Visitors

In the first 3 months of the year, Istanbul hosted 3,766,718 foreign visitors. According to the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Istanbul, which hosted 1,309,200 foreign visitors in March with an 8.49% increase compared to the same month of the previous year, became the locomotive of Turkish tourism.

Most Visitors Came from Russia

In March, Russia Federation was the country with the highest number of visitors to Istanbul with 163,548 people, followed by Iran with 121,194 people, Germany with 115,563 people, and the United Kingdom with 57,097 people.

Visitors from Arab Countries

In March, the ranking of visitors from Arab countries to Istanbul was led by Algeria, followed by Iraq, Morocco, and Saudi Arabia.

Distribution of Visitors through Airports

In March, most foreign visitors to Istanbul entered the city through Istanbul Airport. Istanbul Airport was preferred by 918,036 foreign visitors in March.

Accommodation and Occupancy Rates

According to the latest accommodation statistics published by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, the occupancy rate of accommodation facilities in Istanbul was 45.67% in February.
