Pilgrims’ Farewell Ceremony
The traditional farewell ceremony organized for the pilgrims takes place in a spiritual atmosphere. This sacred ritual symbolizes the pilgrims setting off with prayers and brings the community together.

Prospective pilgrims who will perform the Hajj duty in the holy lands by going to Mecca bid farewell with prayers in Şanlıurfa, the City of Prophets, along with their families. Organized by the Şanlıurfa Provincial Mufti’s Office, 2,010 prospective pilgrims will be bid farewell to the holy lands this year. A farewell ceremony was held at the GAP Airport for the 361 prospective pilgrims in the first pilgrim group.
Farewell Moments
Prayers were recited at the terminal before the journey. After the prayers, the prospective pilgrims said goodbye to their children and families and were taken to the planes from the international terminal. Emotional moments were experienced as the prospective pilgrims bid farewell to their families before heading from the City of Prophets to the holy lands.
Farewell and Prayer
After completing the procedures at the airport, the prospective pilgrims were bid farewell to the holy lands following the prayers led by the Provincial Mufti Ramazan Tolan. The 361 prospective pilgrims boarded the plane to Medina. The pilgrim group, which will stay in Medina for 5 days, will later proceed to Mecca.
Following the ceremony, the Provincial Mufti of Şanlıurfa, Ramazan Tolan, stated, “May Allah grant this opportunity to everyone. These brothers and sisters have been registering for years, experiencing excitement every year, and this year it came true for them. We have made our prayers and are bidding farewell to them as they will board the plane shortly. Currently, we have two groups here. We are bidding farewell tonight to our 361 pilgrims in this group. They will first go to Medina and stay there for 5 days before going to Mecca. If God permits, they will return to our country having completed their duty on June 28. This year, we have a total of 2,010 pilgrims from our Şanlıurfa. Therefore, all our 2,010 pilgrims will perform the Hajj under the supervision, monitoring, and services of our state and the Presidency of Religious Affairs, and then return. May Almighty Allah grant this opportunity to everyone. May all our brothers and sisters have beautiful feelings, beautiful excitement, and may they be granted beautiful pilgrimages,” he said.
The prospective pilgrims, who have been waiting for years to go to the holy lands, expressed that they are very happy.
