The Directorate General of Legal Aid and Victim Services of the Ministry of Justice has published video brochures explaining the rights of disabled individuals when benefiting from justice services among vulnerable groups.

Video Brochures Made Accessible in Digital Environment

Video brochures containing information on legal processes for crime victims, some basic rights, and types of crimes have been made accessible in digital format on the Ministry of Justice website.

Statements by Minister Tunç

Minister of Justice Yılmaz Tunç stated that many steps have been taken to facilitate access to justice for disabled citizens, saying, “In the Strategic Plan of the Ministry of Justice to be implemented between 2024-2028, we have set targets to strengthen the access of disabled citizens to justice. In addition, we aim to strengthen access to disability-friendly justice services with the website and brochures prepared to protect the rights of disabled individuals and develop facilitating practices for them,” he said.

Goals Increased with Strategic Plan

Minister Tunç emphasized that with the Ministry of Justice Strategic Plan, they aim to further strengthen the access of disabled citizens to justice, stating, “In the Strategic Plan, we have increased our targets for disabled citizens. Within this scope, legal aid application forms will be made accessible by customizing them according to the disabilities of individuals. Materials prepared regarding victim and witness rights will be made accessible for disabled individuals. Awareness-raising activities will be carried out for taking statements of elderly and disabled victims in the Judicial Medicine Units. Video sign language interpretation services will be provided to help hearing-impaired individuals express their statements more comfortably in legal processes. Moreover, a mobile application will be provided for hearing-impaired individuals to access information and guidance services they may need for procedures in courthouses. In addition, an educational module will be prepared for justice personnel to benefit from in facilitating the access of disabled individuals to justice,” he stated.
