Kasımpaşa Mevlevi Lodge, the third largest Mevlevi Lodge in Istanbul, will be opened to visitors after 99 years. The Mevlevi Lodge, which is one of the wisdom centers that raised people in the Ottoman civilization, will open its doors to visitors on Saturday, May 11.

History and Importance

Founded in the 17th century under the leadership of Sırrı Abdi Dede, Kasımpaşa Mevlevi Lodge carries the distinction of being the third largest Mevlevi Lodge in Istanbul after the Galata and Yenikapı Mevlevi Lodges. This historical building, owned by the General Directorate of Foundations, was used for various purposes as well as raising people for 300 years. However, after 99 years, it will be restored in its original form and reopened.

Education and Art Workshops

Workshops in the garden section of the Mevlevi Lodge will provide education to students. Students studying at the historical Mevlevi Lodge will have the opportunity to improve themselves in fields such as handicrafts.

Cultural and Educational Activities

Representative of Kasımpaşa Mevlevi Lodge, İlyas Ozan Kaya, stated that the activities carried out will contribute significantly to the Mevlevi culture. The Mevlevi Lodge, which will operate in the fields of Sufism, education, and art, aims to serve people in accordance with tradition.

Evliya Çelebi and the Mevlevi Lodge

Abdurrahman Tevruz, the founding representative of Kasımpaşa Mevlevi Lodge, emphasized the historical importance of the Mevlevi Lodge and narrated an event where Evliya Çelebi visited Abdullah Dede in his dream and shared his experience, highlighting the cultural and historical richness of the Mevlevi Lodge.
