Memet Zeytin, who serves as an imam in a mosque in Artvin, returned the 8,000 TL he found on the street to its owner. Zeytin, who serves in Altınbağ Mahalle Mosque in Sümbüllü Village, connected to the center of Artvin, noticed scattered money on the side of the Artvin-Borçka highway. After collecting the money from the ground, Zeytin shared a post on his social media accounts to reach the owner of the money.

After the post, Zeytin handed over the money he had kept safe to the gendarmerie. Zeytin, who expressed that they reached the owner through the posts after finding the money, said, “An unlawful bite is like a fishbone. Surely, that bone will get stuck in our throat. With that intention, I fulfilled my duty of servitude and my duty of humanity towards my brother,” he said. Tuncay Önçeken, who dropped the money, stated, “I dropped the money from my pocket while going on the motorcycle early in the morning. I went back but couldn’t find it. I immediately called the municipal police. When I went back to the workplace, I came across our teacher’s post. I immediately contacted our teacher. We received the money along with the municipal police officers,” he said.
Zeytin and Önçeken Experienced the Happiness of Receiving the Money
Tuncay Önçeken, who said they received the money after seeing the teacher’s post, stated, “I dropped the money from my pocket while going on the motorcycle early in the morning. I went back but couldn’t find it. I immediately called the municipal police. When I went back to the workplace, I came across our teacher’s post. I immediately contacted our teacher. We received the money along with the municipal police officers,” he said.
