The İbrahim Erkal memorial program organized by Büyükçekmece Municipality witnessed an unforgettable night with the performances of artists.
Performances of the Artists
At the memorial program, artists featured in the album named ‘Hürmet’ dedicated to İbrahim Erkal including Serkan Kaya, Ceylan, Zehra, Kafadar Group, Irmak Arıcı, Sufle, and Aydilge performed beloved songs. The Mayor of the Municipality, Dr. Hasan Akgün, presented plaques to the participating artists.
Speeches by Dr. Hasan Akgün and Filiz Erkal
The Mayor of Büyükçekmece Municipality, Dr. Hasan Akgün, in his speech before the program stated, “It has been exactly 7 years since we lost İbrahim Erkal. He was a very valuable member of our family. İbrahim Erkal has established a place in the hearts of his family, loved ones with his poetry, songs, beauty, and humanity.” Erkal’s wife, Filiz Erkal, expressed, “İbrahim was truly a folk poet. I thank everyone involved.”
“Even after 7 years, it is a great honor for me that he has found a place in people’s hearts for my children. İbrahim was indeed a folk poet as everyone says. He was the artist of the people and still remains one. I thank everyone involved very much. Even after his passing, I have not seen a single person speak ill of İbrahim,” she said.
Artist Irmak Arıcı said, “We will be moved at times. İbrahim Erkal is truly precious to me as a musician. I am very happy to have had the chance to get to know his family. They are very valuable people. I remember him with mercy not only as a musician but also for his humane emotions, as he has always been an example to us.”
Artist Serkan Kaya said, “İbrahim Erkal was a very precious person for all of us. We remember and will continue to commemorate him with love and respect. There is much to say but words are not enough,” he said.
The members of the Kafadar group stated that they performed the song ‘Vur Dibine’ and expressed, “We wish he was among us so we could have done it together. That’s why it is very sad,” they said.
