Head Imam of Bursa Grand Mosque, Tahsin Karanfil, has retired.

Tahsin Karanfil, who has been the head imam of the Grand Mosque, one of the historical and important mosques of Bursa, for 25 years, has retired.

Starting his career as a Quran course teacher, Tahsin Karanfil began his profession 43 years ago in İznik and served as the head imam at Bursa Grand Mosque for 25 years. Karanfil, who led the last Friday prayer, asked for forgiveness from the congregation after the sermon. Karanfil said, ‘Many imams have served throughout history at the mihrab of the Grand Mosque. Our Lord has also granted us this honor. I have fulfilled this sacred duty for 25 years and today I bid farewell with the forgiveness I received from the congregation. I also announced my retirement decision with this last Friday prayer. My congregation has forgiven me, and I am grateful.’
