Bursa Grand Mosque’s Chief Imam Tahsin Karanfil has retired.

Tahsin Karanfil, who has been the head imam of the Bursa Grand Mosque for 25 years, retired from the position he has held for many years. Karanfil took his first step into the profession 43 years ago as a Quran course teacher in İznik, and for the last 25 years, he has been serving as the head imam at the historical mosque of Bursa, the Grand Mosque.

Prior to retiring, Tahsin Karanfil led the last Friday prayer and asked for forgiveness from the congregation after the sermon. Karanfil said, ‘From the beginning of Süleyman Çelebi Hazretleri’s time in the pulpit, thousands of imams have served. By the grace of Allah, we also had the chance to serve in this pulpit. As of today, I am retiring from my duty. Our congregation has forgiven us.’
