Severe Wind in Mersin has a Negative Impact on Daily Life

Strong winds occasionally affecting the city center have a negative impact on the daily lives of citizens. Especially with the waves hitting the coast at Atatürk Park shore, the intensity of the wind increases. Following the storm warning from the Meteorology, many amateur fishermen are unable to go out to sea.

Amateur Fishermen Make Their Boats Safe

Some amateur boat owners coming to Çamlıbel Fishermen’s Shelter are securing their boats and moving them to safe areas to prevent their tents from flying away. Nihat Ertaş, one of the fishermen, points out the storm warning from the meteorology and expresses that they are waiting for the storm safely. Fishermen waiting for the storm to pass are taking precautions to prevent possible damages.

Storm Warning from the Meteorology Directorate

In the statement made by the Mersin Meteorology Directorate, a storm blowing from the west and southwest at a force of 6 to 8 (50-75 km/hour) in the Eastern Mediterranean is expected to be effective until tomorrow morning. Citizens should take necessary precautions before the storm and be prepared for adverse weather conditions.
