The ancient city of Ephesus, which is listed on the UNESCO World Heritage List, has been illuminated for tourists to visit at night. Therefore, a ‘night museum’ launch was organized. The ancient city of Ephesus in the Selçuk district of Izmir exhibits a unique historical richness that carries traces from the Hellenistic, Roman, Byzantine, Seljuk, and Ottoman periods.
Implementation and Promotion Meeting
As part of the ‘night museum’ implementation by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, the illuminated ancient city of Ephesus offers visitors the opportunity to visit after sunset. Ephesus, with a history of 2,300 years, holds the distinction of being the first ancient city in Turkey that can be visited at night. The night museum promotion meeting was organized to draw attention to the tourism potential in the region.

Izmir Governor Süleyman Elban emphasized that ‘night museum’ applications have started to be implemented in historical areas like Ephesus, and extending visiting hours until nightfall will make a significant contribution to tourism. He stated that visiting historical sites at night will offer tourists a different experience and pleasure.
