The Nemrut Crater Lake located in the Tatvan district of Bitlis continues to attract local and foreign tourists even with its snow-covered road. Tourists reach the summit by their vehicles and then cover the rest of the way by hiking in nature to set up their tents by the lake. By doing so, they complete the approximately 5-hour journey while being one with nature.
The Nemrut Caldera, among the distinguished destinations in Europe, stands out with its natural beauties and unique scenery that attract nature enthusiasts throughout the year with an altitude of 2,250 meters. Dr. Lecturer Cihan Önen from Bitlis Eren University and his companions also reached the Nemrut Caldera after a 4-hour hike.
Önen, along with other visitors and 2 French tourists camping nearby, took photos of the caldera, saying, “We are still at the beginning of May, but snow can still be seen in some places. Nevertheless, tourists do not give up on exploring the beauty of these places, even by walking. This place is truly a magnificent natural wonder,” he said.
