Transportation and Infrastructure Minister Abdulkadir Uraloğlu evaluated the 2023 Traffic Volume Data statistics of the General Directorate of Highways. Minister Uraloğlu stated that under the leadership of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, they have realized investments and initiatives that have brought the country to a new era in all modes of transportation with the Turkey Century vision. Minister Uraloğlu emphasized that highways are the locomotive of transportation investments, highlighting that they provide comfortable and safe transportation throughout Turkey with high standard roads. Minister Uraloğlu stated that they have connected the east to the west and the north to the south of our country with divided roads, pointing out that the citizens now prefer highways.
Traffic Volume Data and Prominent Roads
- Fatih Sultan Mehmet Bridge and July 15 Martyrs Bridge: The traffic volume on the Fatih Sultan Mehmet Bridge was recorded as 240,000, while on the July 15 Martyrs Bridge it was 190,000.
- Istanbul-Tekirdağ State Road: The Annual Average Daily Traffic (AADT) exceeded 100,000 in some sections.
- Ankara Airport: The number of vehicles using the route reached 70,000 per day.
- Eskişehir Ring Road: The daily traffic volume on the road that eases Ankara’s urban traffic is over 70,000.
- Transportation Road to Gaziantep Organized Industrial Zone: It was stated that the daily traffic exceeds 70,000.
- Samsun Ring Road: It was reported that it is used by 60,000 vehicles every day.
Minister Uraloğlu mentioned that the high-traffic roads are increasing and transportation investments have increased the country’s traffic volume by 195 percent, reaching a value of 154.5 billion vehicle x km nationwide. He emphasized that the investments are for the comfort of the citizens, stating that they will continue to pave the way for Turkey.
