Statements by Governor Selçuk Aslan

Düzce Governor Selçuk Aslan emphasized the importance of being conscious about disasters, stating, ‘Our country is located in a region prone to different disasters. We need to be resilient against disasters and raise awareness among our people. The most effective method in this awareness process is the occasional drills conducted. These drills are based on worked-out scenarios. They will enable our people to act with correct reflexes during a real disaster. National drills and earthquake scenarios conducted by the Ministry of Interior increase people’s awareness of how they should behave in the face of disasters,’ he said.

Creating Disaster Awareness

Governor Aslan highlighted the importance of the ‘drop-cover-hold on’ practice in disasters, stating that it is vital for individuals to learn how to act in a likely earthquake scenario. The successful outcome of the drill contributed to raising public awareness about disasters.
