Domestic and National Neurological Disease Treatment Device from Hitit University

A domestically produced device capable of treating neurological diseases with electrical stimulation was developed in a project led by Hitit University. The project was carried out under the leadership of Faculty of Medicine Associate Professor Guven Akcay.
Project Team and Support
Within the scope of the project, Faculty of Engineering members Prof. Dr. Mehmet Fatih Isik and Associate Professor Serkan Dislitas also participated in the work. This multidisciplinary team focused on the drug-free treatment of neurological diseases and developed a domestic treatment device.
Neuromodulation Therapy
Neuromodulation is a treatment method that aims to reorganize nerve tissues. Neuromodulation therapy is applied through methods such as electrical stimulation, sound, and magnetic stimuli. The developed device offers an effective alternative in the treatment of neurological diseases by using this treatment method.
Domestic Production and Advantages
It is emphasized that the developed device is entirely domestic. Compared to similar devices produced abroad, the cost of domestic production is stated to be approximately 50 times lower. This situation expands access to treatment while reducing costs.
Clinical Application and Future Steps
After the completion of preclinical studies of the developed device, it is stated that clinical studies will be carried out, especially focusing on epilepsy and neuropathic diseases. The ability to apply the treatment individually aims to enhance effectiveness and positively contribute to patients’ treatment process.
