Leader of the Republican People’s Party, Özgür Özel, Visited Mansur Yavaş

The leader of the Republican People’s Party (CHP), Özgür Özel, visited Ankara Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Mansur Yavaş for the first time after the local elections on March 31. Following a meeting held behind closed doors, Özel and Yavaş had a meeting at the Municipal Council Hall with the district mayors and council members of CHP in Ankara. After the meeting, Özel and Yavaş made statements to the press.

Assessment of the Meeting by Özel and Yavaş

Mansur Yavaş stated that he found the meeting between Özgür Özel and President Erdoğan positive, while Özel mentioned that he presented a plaque representing the symbols of Ankara and handed over the certificate of the donation made to him. Yavaş, in the statements made after the meeting, expressed that he provided information about the municipal works and financial reports.

Regarding the meeting with President Erdoğan, where the discussion included the Gezi Park Trial detainees and whether there is hope on this matter, Özel emphasized the importance of Turkey taking steps in this regard by focusing on the rule of law and predictability.

Özel also evaluated his meeting with Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu yesterday, stating that they had a pleasant meal discussing the March 31 elections and Kılıçdaroğlu’s meeting with Erdoğan, sharing details of the meeting. Özel expressed that Kılıçdaroğlu demonstrated a constructive and forward-looking approach.
