Van-Bahçesaray Road is Open to Traffic

The Van-Bahçesaray highway, which was closed for 132 days due to heavy snowfall and avalanche danger in Van, was opened to traffic as of yesterday. The road, which was closed as a result of heavy snowfall on December 22, 2023, followed by avalanches, was meticulously cleared by the teams of the 11th Regional Directorate of Highways.

Works Continued Non-Stop

At Karabet Pass, located at an altitude of 3,000 meters with snow masses of approximately 3 to 5 meters high, the teams continued their work non-stop despite the challenging weather conditions. The teams of the Görentaş Nursing Home, affiliated with the 111th Branch Directorate of the 11th Regional Directorate of Highways, managed to open the Van-Bahçesaray road to traffic after the 132-day process.

Minibus Emerged After 4.5 Months

A minibus that was buried under an avalanche on December 22, 2023, emerged after 4.5 months as the snow melted. The diligent work of the highway teams led to the discovery of the minibus that had been under the snow mass for a long time, bringing joy to the local community.
