Naip village is a small settlement connected to the Süleymanpaşa district of Tekirdağ. The people living in this village are delighted to welcome the stork coming from Africa to the same spot every spring. The stork has been choosing to stay in the same nest in Naip village for 20 years. With this long-term visit, it has become a mascot among the villagers.
Special Place of the Stork in the Village
Serdar Gök, a resident of Naip village and the owner of the village’s coffeehouse, describes the presence of the stork with the words: “This stork has been here as long as I have been alive. Its arrival has become a source of joy for the villagers. Returning to its nest every year to visit us has become a tradition. The stork’s nest is on top of a pole specially prepared by TREDAŞ and can be monitored 24 hours a day with a camera installed by the Directorate of Nature Conservation and National Parks.
The villagers welcome the stork with great affection. Serdar Gök expresses that they eagerly await the growth of the stork’s chicks and still cannot understand why they lost some of the stork’s offspring in previous years. The arrival of the stork to the village has become an event eagerly awaited not only by nature lovers but also by the villagers.
