Natural Disaster in Karaman
The flood disaster that occurred in Karaman after a hailstorm the size of hazelnuts turned agricultural lands into a lake, causing damage in an area of approximately 100 thousand hectares.
Extent of the Damage Revealed
The President of the Karaman Chamber of Agriculture, Mehmet Bayram, conducted inspections in the cultivated lands and orchards in Yuvatepe, Kılbasan, Göztepe, Beydilli, and Ekinözü villages, which were affected by the hailstorm. Bayram stated during the inspections that the farmers experienced a natural disaster. It was determined that sugar beet seeds were uprooted, barley and wheat fields were devastated, and apples were knocked off the branches. Bayram emphasized that the Agricultural and Forestry Provincial Directorate teams have started assessing the damage and that the government will support the farmers. According to the assessments, damage occurred in an area of approximately 100 thousand hectares.
