In the town of Atabağı, connected to Baykan district of Siirt, a hailstorm that unexpectedly started around 3:00 p.m. today caught the local people unprepared. Hailstones the size of walnuts fell vigorously to the ground for about 10 minutes. This sudden natural event caused serious damages to the agricultural lands and gardens in the region.
After the hailstorm, the local people found some relief with the soothing effect of the subsequent rain. However, the damages caused by the hail worry the farmers in the region. Authorities continue their efforts to determine the extent of the damage caused by the hail and to support the farmers.
