Malatya Provincial Coordination Meeting

A coordination meeting was held in Malatya under the chairmanship of Minister of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change Mehmet Özhaseki. The meeting discussed the post-earthquake process and construction works.

Evaluation by Özhaseki After the Earthquake

Minister Özhaseki stated that the country faced a major disaster, explaining in detail the damages and effects caused by the earthquake. He provided information about the post-earthquake efforts.

Construction of Solid Buildings is Aimed

Minister Özhaseki emphasized the need to build solid structures, highlighting the necessity to construct earthquake-resistant and safe residences and workplaces. The aim is to create buildings where people can live peacefully.

Minister of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change Mehmet Özhaseki said, “We will build such sturdy workplaces, such sturdy houses, that we can all sit peacefully in our homes, and not experience these pains again. For this, we are paying attention to every detail,” he said.

Özhaseki indicated that construction of approximately 390,000 earthquake residences started in the earthquake zone, with around 400,000 beneficiaries nationwide. He mentioned that village houses were built in 4,333 villages, and there were 1,240 construction sites. It was announced that thousands of residences are planned to be delivered each month in June and July.

  • A total of 18 provinces were affected by the earthquake, with 14 million people suffering damage,
  • 680,000 residences were destroyed,
  • 170,000 workplaces and warehouses were damaged.
