The employees involved in the printing, packaging, inspection, and distribution of the question booklets for the Higher Education Institutions Exam (YKS) to be held by the Student Selection and Placement Center (ÖSYM) on 8-9 June will live in isolation from the outside world for approximately 40 days. This year, printing, packaging, inspection, and distribution of the YKS question booklets, for which more than 3 million candidates applied, are being carried out by ÖSYM personnel consisting of printing workers, food service providers, experts, and faculty members, who have started a 40-day isolated life from the outside world. The personnel, including their families, will not be able to communicate with the outside world in any way until the end of the YKS. All the basic needs of the personnel will be met at the center for 40 days.

High-Level Security Measures

At the 20,000 square meter center protected by a Faraday cage and a signal-jamming system, where the printing, packaging, inspection, and distribution of the question booklets are carried out, 200,000 question booklets will be printed daily. Security will be ensured by special systems as well as 24/7 law enforcement officers. No electronic devices, including mobile phones, will be allowed to enter the center. After all staff members are searched with X-ray machines and metal detectors and pass through fingerprint scanning systems, they will be admitted to the center.

Employees Cannot Leave Until the End of the Exam

ÖSYM personnel, experts, faculty members, printing workers, and food service providers, totaling over 100 personnel, will not be able to leave until the evening of 9 June when the exam ends. Following the completion of the Foreign Language Test (YDT), the final session of the YKS, at 17:45 on 9 June, the personnel will leave the center and reunite with their families.

Environmental Cleanliness and Security

Even the trash will not be taken out for 40 days for the security of the questions at the center. Any scrap paper or question booklets with printing errors used in the closed center will be turned into dust. Special areas such as cinemas, gyms, massage chairs, rest areas, dining halls, dormitories will be available in the closed printing house to meet all the needs of the personnel.

High Printing Capacity and Security Inspections

The questions prepared at the center will undergo at least 3-4 inspections. This year, 1,500 tons of paper will be used for printing YKS questions. 200,000 question booklets will be printed in a day at the printing house. Nearly 5.5 million question booklets will be printed this year for the YKS sessions, where more than 3 million candidates applied. Each candidate’s booklet will be unique, and there will be no duplicate booklets with the same content distribution.
