The Minister of Treasury and Finance, Mehmet Şimşek, made significant statements regarding the inflation rate in April, which realized as 3.18% in line with expectations. Minister Şimşek, in a post on his social media account, stated, “In April, inflation realized as 3.18% in line with expectations. The balance in our program ensuring stabilization in the economy, decreasing current account deficit, reestablished budget discipline, strong increase in international capital inflows, and domestic portfolio preferences shifting towards the Turkish Lira support the fight against inflation.”

Minister Şimşek emphasized that a critical phase is being experienced in the fight against inflation, stating, “After reaching its peak in May, annual inflation will sharply start to decrease as projected. We anticipate that with this process, disinflation will start and inflation will begin to decline. With disinflation, improvements in expectations will become more pronounced, further supporting the decrease in inflation.”
