Statement of Student Ahmet Kartal

“We, who are present here, will never be indifferent to this atrocity”
In the statement made by university student Ahmet Kartal, it was reminded that the universities in the United States were not silent about what is happening in Gaza. The statement mentioned that the pro-Palestine demonstrations that started at Columbia University spread to other universities, stating, “The universities in the United States have not remained silent about this genocide in Gaza, and the pro-Palestine demonstrations that started at Columbia University have spread to other universities as well. With these demonstrations, the responsibility to stop the genocide carried out by Israel has been reminded to all of humanity. Teaching staff have also supported the reactions of university students. However, the peaceful demonstrations of university students and teaching staff, who act with a sense of humanitarian and moral responsibility against the atrocious genocide, are being attempted to be suppressed in an undemocratic manner and with harsh interventions. We condemn the disproportionate violence and pressure applied against these peaceful actions, and declare our support for university students and teaching staff who listen to their conscience and do not remain indifferent to this oppression. As the Turkish nation, we cannot remain silent in the face of this atrocity. In fact, we, who are present here today, will never be indifferent to this atrocity. The Israeli pressure and tyranny must be ended immediately with deterrent sanctions and interventions. We invite all of humanity to take action to stop the atrocity in Gaza and the violence against peace-loving students and educators.”
