In Yalova, students and citizens organized a garbage collection event in forested areas as part of the ‘Forest is Mine’ campaign. Yalova also supported the campaign, which was carried out simultaneously in 81 provinces across Turkey.

Environmental Cleaning and Fire Prevention Efforts

The event took place at Kirazlı Picnic Area, hosted by the Yalova Forestry Directorate. In the program, which was held with the participation of non-governmental organizations, garbage that could cause fires in forested areas was collected. The aim of these activities was to raise awareness for the prevention of forest fires.

Creating Awareness

Arzu Demir, the President of the TEMA Foundation Yalova Branch, emphasized the importance of developing awareness for the protection of forests among the participants. Demir pointed out that forest fires increase according to the season and stated that the community should not leave their garbage in nature. Emphasizing that forests are a source of oxygen, Demir expressed that everyone should be sensitive about forests.

Important figures such as Deputy Governor Bahattin Atçı, Forest Management Director Murat Koçluk, Culture and Tourism Director Ziya Karatekin, and the Secretary General of the Provincial Administration Ümit Yılmaz also supported the event.
