As part of the ‘Forest is Mine’ campaign led by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, students in Bingöl participated in a clean-up event in the forest area.
During the cleaning event held in the pine forest area next to the Martyrdom Monument, attention was drawn to the negative effects of garbage and waste on forest fires. In the event where non-governmental organizations and students from the July 15 Martyrs Imam Hatip Middle School came together, lower branch pruning on trees was also carried out.
11-year-old Güney Umut Savuş, in his statement about the event, said, ‘Today, we cleaned the forest with our friends. We cleaned around, filled glass bottle wastes into bags and removed them. Our request from everyone is not to litter these areas and keep them clean.’
Deputy Governor Engin Tok, Agriculture and Forestry Provincial Director Burhan Bahadır, Forest Management Director İbrahim Börü, teachers, and students continue to raise awareness for the prevention of forest fires through the event.
