Forest Area Waste Cleaning and Fire Prevention

Commando units serving under the Kastamonu Provincial Gendarmerie Command, in collaboration with public institutions, non-governmental organizations, collected garbage in a forested area. Speaking at the event, Kastamonu Governor Meftun Dallı stated that 99% of the forests were burned in fires caused by human factors.
The Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry initiated the ‘Forest is Mine’ campaign nationwide to raise awareness about protecting forests and taking measures against fires. Within the campaign, a garbage collection activity was organized in the forested area along the Eastern Ring Road in Kastamonu. Governor Meftun Dallı participated in the event by collecting garbage with students.

Forest Fires and Important Information
Governor Meftun Dallı, in his speech at the event, drew attention to the increasing forest fires. Governor Dallı stated that an average of 2,600 forest fires occur each year, emphasizing that 87% of these fires are caused by humans. Additionally, he pointed out that 99% of the fires in the forests are caused by human factors.
Governor Dallı also mentioned the damages caused by stubble fires and cigarette butts to the forests, highlighting the need for farmers and citizens to be careful. Furthermore, he noted that due to the impact of climate change, forest fires spread more rapidly and the fight against them becomes more challenging every year.
In the activity carried out in the forested area, garbage was cleaned up, waste that could cause fires was collected, and elements harmful to nature were eliminated.
