Peribacaları, located on the road route providing access to the villages of Gökdere and Nazlıçayır in Gümüşhane, were buried underground due to excavation during the alternative road construction of the cement factory. Local residents called on the authorities to save this natural wonder.

Preservation of Natural Wonders is Desired

The geological formations known as fairy chimneys by the villagers, located on the road route providing access to many villages including Gökdere and Nazlıçayır Villages connected to the center, were buried under excavation soil. Local residents demand the rescue of these structures formed over millions of years.

Call from Local Residents: ‘Clear the Excavation, Save the Structure’

Engin Bulut, a local resident, opposed the destruction of the structure referred to as ‘fairy chimneys’ and said, ‘We demand the clearing of the excavation by the authorities for the preservation of ancient beauties and the restoration of the structure to its former state.’ Another villager, Kemal Aydın, stated, ‘There is no trace left of its old appearance, we want the accumulated excavation to be cleared and the structure to be saved.’
