Climate Change and Environmental Protection
The Minister of Environment, Urbanization, and Climate Change, Mehmet Özhaseki, and the Minister of Environment of the Czech Republic, Petr Hladik, came together in Ankara and signed a ‘Declaration of Intent on Environmental Protection Cooperation’.
Climate Law and Zero Waste Movement
Minister Özhaseki emphasized Turkey’s determination in combating climate change, stating that they have prepared the ‘Climate Law’ and will present it to the Turkish Grand National Assembly in the coming days. Furthermore, he mentioned that the Zero Waste Movement has become a globally recognized project.
Increasing Forest Assets and People’s Gardens
Minister Özhaseki expressed that Turkey is one of the rare countries that has increased its forest assets in the last 20 years within the scope of combating desertification and erosion. Additionally, he noted that efforts to expand green areas continue with a total of 100 million square meters of people’s garden projects.
The Minister of Environment of the Czech Republic, Petr Hladik, stated that they want to cooperate on waste management and geology. He emphasized that the two countries share common experiences and carry the responsibility of leaving a more livable world for future generations.
Following the meeting, the two Ministers signed the ‘Declaration of Intent on Environmental Protection Cooperation’ to share their experiences in combating climate change and collaborate on environmental projects.
