Commemoration Ceremony of the 543rd Anniversary of the Death of Fatih Sultan Mehmet the Conqueror

One of the important sultans of the Ottoman Empire, Fatih Sultan Mehmet Khan, was remembered with prayers at his grave on the 543rd anniversary of his death. The commemoration program held for Fatih Sultan Mehmet Khan, who conquered Istanbul and made history, took place at the Fatih Mosque Cemetery. The program was attended by Istanbul Governor Davut Gül, Provincial Mufti Prof. Dr. Safi Arpaguş, Provincial Director of Culture and Tourism Dr. Coşkun Yılmaz, Fatih District Governor Cafer Sarılı, and Fatih Mayor Mehmet Ergün Turan.
Program Details and Speeches
The commemoration ceremony started with the recitation of the Quran and continued with a prayer led by Provincial Mufti Prof. Dr. Safi Arpaguş. Governor Davut Gül, in his speech, said, ‘Sultan Fatih showed extraordinary effort and success to fulfill the glad tidings of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). He made Istanbul a Muslim Turkish land forever. Today, we prayed to progress in the footsteps of our ancestors.’
Mayor Mehmet Ergün Turan said, ‘We stand with the heritage of Fatih Sultan Mehmet Khan’s works. We pray to raise and govern generations worthy of his spirit.’
At the end of the program, the participants completed the commemoration ceremony by reciting prayers for Fatih Sultan Mehmet Khan.
