Cleaning Work was Carried Out in Burdur City Forest Within the Scope of the ‘This Forest is Mine’ Project
Within the framework of the ‘This Forest is Mine’ project organized by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry nationwide, a significant cleaning work was carried out in Burdur City Forest. The event was attended by protocol members, veterans, students, institution staff, as well as security and gendarmerie personnel.
The event in Burdur took place in the City Forest located across from Burdur Lake, on the Burdur-Fethiye highway. The program started with a moment of silence and the singing of the National Anthem. Subsequently, in the event attended by Burdur Governor Türker Öksüz, household waste such as glass, bottles, plastic, and paper thrown into the environment was collected by forest workers. Additionally, pruning of the lower branches of dried trees in the forest was carried out, and Governor Türker Öksüz also supported these efforts.
In his speech, Burdur Forest Management Director Sefa Karataş pointed out that forest fires are increasing due to the impact of global warming and climate change, emphasizing that the priority strategy in combating forest fires is fire prevention measures. Karataş stated that the protection and cleanliness of the forest is everyone’s responsibility.
