The General Directorate of Tea Enterprises (ÇAYKUR) will start the 2024 green tea campaign as of tomorrow. Within the scope of the campaign, tea producers have started preparing their gardens to have a productive season.
Pre-Harvest Preparations
Producers preparing for the 2024 green tea season started by pruning their teas. After the pruning process, fertilization activities were carried out in the fields. ÇAYKUR will start the green tea campaign on Saturday, May 4, and the tea producers awaiting this date are eagerly anticipating the base price to be announced.
In the statement made by ÇAYKUR, producers were warned not to harvest tea without clearing weeds. The statement included the following statements:
- Cleanliness is Important: Weeds have a negative impact on the quality of tea. Therefore, cleaning the gardens before harvest is of great importance.
- Family Business: It is important for tea harvesting to be done within the family as much as possible for quality and hygiene. When harvesting with workers is necessary, it is recommended to harvest clean and woody parts deeply.
It was emphasized that in order for tea to remain an economic source of income for future generations for many years, quality should not be compromised. ÇAYKUR stated that tea harvesting starts from the garden, emphasizing that attention should be paid to cleanliness and hygiene rules to preserve the aroma and taste of tea.
