In the Narlıca Neighborhood of Antakya district in Hatay, 3-year-old Ömer Arslan, who was playing in the yard of his house, swallowed a 1 TL coin. His uncle Adnan Arslan noticed the situation and immediately intervened.

Article 2: Saved with Heimlich Maneuver

Uncle Adnan Arslan saved his nephew Ömer by applying the Heimlich maneuver he learned from a driving course. With successful attempts on the 7th try, the coin was removed from the child’s throat.

Uncle Arslan’s statement: “I was sitting in the garden to rest, at that moment my nephew was swinging on the swing. While swinging with some coins in his hand, one got stuck in his throat. He came to me with a red face while I was sitting. At first, I didn’t notice, but then I realized he couldn’t breathe. I immediately turned his back towards me and started the Heimlich maneuver. After 7 maneuvers, a 1 TL coin came out of his throat. Then I took a deep breath. I learned it from the driving course. I learned it while watching Heimlich maneuver videos on social media. I saved my nephew’s life with the Heimlich maneuver.”
